THOMPSON-NICOLA — A few dozen property owners who reside near Murray Lake in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District have been ordered to leave their homes because of a wildfire.
Murray Lake is just north of the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Park off Highway 5.
The order was issued late Wednesday night due to a rapidly moving wildfire, which is threatening people and property.
According to the Forest Ministry, the fire is 250 hectares and was started by lightning on July 14.
There are an estimated 30-35 properties in the area.
Crews had been battling the fire over the last two days but have had to pull out because of aggressive fire behaviour.
