Keremeos fire department is fighting a fire in what remains of Red Bridge Pub, the Keremeos Hotel Liquor Store and the 7th Street diner.
The fire was spotted around 8 this morning and fully involved when firefighters arrived.
Mutual aid was requested, and Osoyoos and Kaleden firefighters are helping out.
“This is our hotel, and we pour our heart and soul into this hotel for a lot of years,” says Carla Irvine, a co-owner of the Red Bridge Pub.
The pub hires about 20 people, who now need to find new jobs.
“There’s many of us who’s going to be out of work now. It’s devastating to this community,” says Monica Boehmer, the pub’s bar manager.
Smoke from the fire was visible from the nearby community of Olalla.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
