EDMONTON – A 61-year-old woman from Ponoka was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on Highway 2-A, about two kilometres north of the Maskwacis first nation.

The woman’s southbound car crossed over the centre line and collided with a semi truck headed north, according to RCMP.

RCMP, Fire and EMS crews from Maskwacis and police from Wetaskiwin responded.

The Ponoka woman died on scene; her name is being withheld until family is notified. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.

Police said road conditions and visitbility did not appear to be factors in the crash.

Maskwacis (formerly known as Hobbema) is about 75 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
