TORONTO – Safety should be your number one priority whenever you hit the water regardless if you’re on a paddle or power boat, Ontario provincial police say.
Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell recently teamed up with members of the Safe and Sober Awareness Committee (S&SAC) for an awareness campaign directed at boaters who plan on being safe on the water this summer.
Boaters are being reminded to not drink and drive, follow proper water safety rules and get the BOATsmart! card.

Those caught with safety equipment not in good working order can face a fine of up to $200, while operating a boat without a life jacket is a $300 fine.
