Hikers rescued from Cape Split, N.S.

CAPE SPLIT, N.S. – Police and rescue teams had a busy weekend around Nova Scotia’s Cape Split, a popular hiking destination along the Bay of Fundy.

Two men, one 23 and the other 63, had to be located yesterday.

RCMP say they weren’t familiar with the trail system and got lost, but they had some food and a cellphone.

They were found in good condition around 5:30 p.m. and taken out of the deep woods.

In an incident on Sunday night, six lost hikers had to be rescued.

The RCMP called in a search team around 9:00 p.m. and the four men and two women from the Halifax area were found at midnight.

All six were brought out with the help of an amphibious vehicle.

They were tired and cold but otherwise OK.
