Fire at Edmonton waste management centre

EDMONTON – Thick, black smoke could be seen billowing from a fire in northeast Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.

The smoke was first spotted shortly after 2:30 p.m. just south of the North Saskatchewan River on Meridian Street.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services confirm it is an electronics bin on fire at the Waste Management Centre.

Crews were on scene by 2:50 p.m. and firefighters are currently working to keep the fire under control.
