A 44-year-old woman is lucky to be alive after falling on to the tracks inside a Boston subway station earlier this week.
Surveillance video released by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), shows a woman who appears to be unaware of her surroundings walking off the platform and landing onto the tracks of the Back Bay station.
A group of bystanders quickly came to her rescue, jumping down and lifting her off the tracks. The incident happened Tuesday just before 9 p.m.
An MBTA spokesperson told the New York Daily News the woman was taken to a local hospital, after complaining of pain on her right side. The spokesperson said it was unclear if the woman was suffering a medical emergency, intoxicated, or briefly disorientated.
The woman also managed to avoid the deadly, high voltage third rail when she fell.
