History

Peggy Sattler took the riding for the NDP in a byelection last August, defeating PC candidate Ali Chahbar by over 3,000 votes. Prior to that, the riding was held by former Liberal minister Chris Bentley, who resigned in the aftermath of the gas plant scandal when he was facing a contempt motion in the legislature. London West and its main predecessor, London South, have elected an MPP from the party forming government in every general election since 1987.
