History

PC candidate Lisa Thompson defeated two-term Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell in this riding last election, winning by a margin of 10 per cent, with the NDP in a respectable third at 20.9 per cent. It was the first time since the riding was created in 1987 that the winning candidate didn’t come from the party that formed government. While the Liberals maintained their strength in the small towns in the riding, the PCs performed much better in the more rural areas.
