Firefighters say fairway sprinklers at the golf course were being used to help prevent the fire from spreading.

At no point did firefighters feel there was any danger to housing in the area.

Kay says they were very lucky the two creeks were intersecting the blaze, containing to one area for the most part.

At its peak the fire spewed thick plumes of smoke that could be seen throughout the city.
