OTTAWA – Senators are debating back-to-work legislation for locked-out Canada Post employees.
The upper chamber is expected to pass the bill within hours, setting the stage for royal assent and resumption of postal service within days.

The rare Sunday sitting of the Senate followed a 58-hour marathon filibuster in the House of Commons.
The Conservative benches erupted in cheers after MPs passed the bill Saturday night.

The government tabled the back-to-work bill last Monday after Canada Post locked out the union.
The NDP tried to stall passage of the bill, calling it unfair to the workers.
