A dream about massive flooding in the Netherlands prompted a construction undertaking that is capturing world headlines.

A Dutch man named Johan Huibers dreamt Holland was flooding, and the following day he decided to build an ark.

Three years and $1.6 million later, Johan’s ark is nearly completed.

The ark is a life-sized reconstruction of Noah’s Ark. Huibers built everything to scale – by hand.

The ark is 140 metres long, four stories high, and can hold up to 1500 people – or animals – inside.

Huibers hopes to float the ark down the River Thames in London, England ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
