TORONTO – Provincial police plan to announce today the roll-out of a standardized mental health screening form to be used by frontline officers across the province.
The form is based on a standard from the Ontario Ministry of Health for use with patients admitted to an Ontario hospital for inpatient psychiatric care.

OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes will be joined by experts on the matter at this afternoon’s announcement in Vaughan.
Law enforcement officials have been working on how best to train officers to deal with the mentally ill in an effort to avert tragedies involving those in crisis.
