Residents of a west side neighborhood were inspecting their vehicles for any damage after a man went on shooting rampage in a west side neighborhood.
“I looked out the window. A guy across the street from me was trying to break into the house and kept banging on the door,” said one of the neighbours. Then he pulled out a rifle.”
It happened in the area of Mt. Rundle West. At around 11:00 p.m. Monday night residents say they hear the sound of gun shots.
“In the span of two minutes I heard two huge fire work bangs and then some smaller ones,” said another neighbour. “I looked out the window and it sounded like it was across the street and then I looked out my window and saw police running towards this one thing. It was surreal and scary.”
Lethbridge Regional Police say they received numerous 9-1-1 calls about a man with a baseball bat and gun walking down this street.

Investigators say a number of shots were fired at cars and the door of this home was shot several times.
“The male fired several shots at a home and vehicle and no one was injured, says officers were able to locate the individual quite quickly and take him into custody,” said Kristen Harding, executive officer with the Lethbridge Regional Police.
The LRPS says early investigation leads them to believe this was a targeted crime and they have a 24-year-old man in custody who was in possession of a baseball bat and a high powered rifle.
“It’s isolated for certain at this point, but we are still in the early investigation. I can assure the community that there is no ongoing threat to the community.”
Investigators are not saying if there is a connection between the owner of this home and the suspect involved in the shooting.
