Saskatchewan’s population hits all-time high

A new Statistics Canada report released on Wednesday says Saskatchewan’s population has hit a new all-time high.

According to the report, on April 1st Saskatchewan’s population was estimated to be 1,053,960. That’s an increase of 1,910 people since the beginning of the year and up 13,225 people in the last year.

“Saskatchewan continues to be a province of opportunity for those who have lived here for years and for newcomers to our province,” said Rob Norris, Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister.

Overall, Saskatchewan’s annual growth rate of 1.27 per cent is fourth highest amongst the provinces and ahead of the national average of 1.06 per cent.
