VANCOUVER – A new public opinion poll seems to indicate the RCMP is regaining public confidence.
The Angus Reid poll shows a dramatic increase in the level of public support from a similar survey two years ago, when the force was dealing with a series of public relations issues.
Across the country, confidence in the RCMP increased from 38 per cent in 2012, to 67 per cent in 2014.
The poll shows confidence is also up when it comes to the criminal justice system, although the numbers are still dismal. Twenty-seven per cent of respondents say they have confidence in the provincial court, up from just 10 per cent in 2012.
