UPDATE: A suspected impaired driver hit a woman sending her flying about 40 feet Thursday night on Highway 97 and Ethel St. He then hit a stop sign and a few other cars before police took his keys away.
According to police the 27-year-old woman was in a crosswalk when the truck hit her.
RCMP say a witness followed the 69-year-old man driving the truck for a few blocks.
Once the suspect was blocked in and the keys were taken out of the ignition, police noticed the man seemed intoxicated.
He blew over twice the legal limit in a breath test and faces several charges.
The woman who was rushed to hospital has since been released and police say she is lucky to be alive.
The suspect has been released from police custody and will appear in court at a later date.
