KELOWNA – A vandal didn’t avoid the security cameras but she has dodged a criminal prosecution.
In December, surveillance video taken outside the downtown Kelowna casino captured a woman defacing the sidewalk and several parking meters with spray paint.

After RCMP released the images, which were shown on local media, the woman turned herself in.
Police were considering a charge of mischief but instead the matter was handled through Restorative Justice.
That typically involves a person accepting responsibility for their actions, apologizing and making restitution for the damage done.
In return, they’re spared court prosecution.
