The 650 square metre facility will supply child care for hospital staff and people who live in the area.
It has been named after doctor Djavad Mowafaghian, a Vancouver businessman and philanthropist who donated $4 million toward the facility.
Mowafaghian pledged $6 million in 2004 to fund renovations to the hospital’s outpatient clinic.
