Born: May 20, 1979, in Ottawa.

Education: Studied history and politics at the University of Ottawa and the University of Regina. Bilingual.

Early career: Worked in the correspondence department of the office of the leader of the Opposition while attending university. Later worked for Canadian Alliance MP Larry Spencer. Also worked as an insurance broker in Regina.

Politics: First elected to represent Saskatchewan riding of Regina-Qu’Appelle in 2004. Has been deputy speaker and chair of committees of the whole of the House of Commons since November 2008.

Family: Married to Jill Scheer. Four children: Thomas, Grace, Madeline and Henry.
