NEW BRUNSWICK – Communities across the province have been hit by some of the worst flooding they’ve seen in years.
In Fredericton, water levels passed flood stage and reached 7.2 metres Wednesday evening.
Regional Emergency Operation Centres have been opened in Oromocto, Oak Bay and Saint John.
The Village of Sussex Corner was significantly impacted and declared a state of local emergency Wednesday morning. Some evacuations have taken place and a reception centre has been opened at Kingswood University in Sussex.
As of Wednesday evening, River Watch 2014 was reporting ice jams in Middle River, near Bathurst, four jams on the Southwest Miramichi, three jams on the Nashwaak River, the Tobique River and three on the main St. John River -below Woodstock, between Woodstock and Hartland and upstream of Baker Brook.
