OSOYOOS, B.C. — Oasis R.V. Resort is increasing its security after 20 RVs and mobile homes were broken into.
The majority of the break-ins happened in March, but the most recent incident happened last week.
Since the summer tourism season hasn’t picked up yet, 80 per cent of the owners are away. The unoccupied homes were the targets.
“A lot of people who have residence here don’t keep very much in the winter. So it’s kind of pointless, there’s really nothing to steal,” said Drew Kassa, the President of the Oasis RV Resort Owners Association.

RCMP said big-ticket items were not taken, instead, the thieves appeared to be after alcohol and small goods.
Police also said the break-in spree took place along Lakeshore Drive.
Over at Island View RV Resort, just a kilometre away from Oasis, five of its RV’s had their windows pried open. It appeared nothing was stolen from any of those homes.
“We’ve been kind of puzzled because we’re trying to figure out why would anybody push windows out for the sake of pushing them out?” wondered Marilyn Harris, a resident of the resort.
RCMP said at least 3 RV parks in the area were targeted, but the thieves also broke into trailers that were put away at nearby storage facilities.
