OKANAGAN — The program has been in existence in the Okanagan for several years and officials say it’s working.
The Okanagan Valley Goose Management plan is now into its eighth year.
It’s designed to prevent the increase of non-migratory geese in the Valley.

Officials say many of the birds stay in the valley year-round and are descendants of geese that were introduced to the Valley in the 1960’s and 70’s in an effort to create an Okanagan goose population.

In an effort to manage the population, officials launched an egg addling program and say the program is proving to be a success with approximately 6,000 fewer geese in the Okanagan Valley.
This season’s program wraps up in May.
