EDMONTON – Crews were cleaning up Thursday morning after a tanker-truck rollover in northwestern Alberta on Highway 40.
The RCMP says a tanker truck was involved in a rollover on Highway 40 about 25 kilometres south of Grande Prairie around 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
The tanker became detached and the RCMP believes the tractor unit rolled several times.
The driver was picked up by someone driving by and was taken to hospital for treatment.
No other vehicles were involved.
Officers say there’s an indication that fluid from the tanker leaked into both ditches, and so cleanup efforts were affecting traffic in both directions overnight.
Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, traffic on Highway 40 and Township Road 690 was returned to normal.
The cause of the rollover is still under investigation.
