KELOWNA, B.C. – RCMP are looking for a suspect in dark clothing after the Capri Insurance branch in the Capri Mall was robbed just before noon Tuesday.
Cpl. Doug Haftner says the man was armed with what’s believed to be a real, larger sized firearm.
The suspect was wearing a black hoodie pulled down over his face when he demanded cash.
“It’s definitely surprising,” says Cpl. Haftner of the insurance office robbery. “We don’t usually get robberies at insurance stores. But the fact is, there was a small amount of cash on hand and that’s what he made off with.”
Haftner says he has not seen an insurance office robbed in his 17 years as an RCMP officer.
The suspect made of to the east near Belaire Avenue on bike, which is where a police tracking dog lost his scent.
The man is about 5’6″ tall and was last seen on bike wearing black pants and a black hoodie.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
