An autopsy has confirmed that 17-year-old twins James and William Beck died from multiple stab wounds.

Police were called to Borealis Park in Fort McMurray just after 11:00 on Sunday, June 26th after reports of an altercation.

The brothers were found at the scene, and transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Autopsies were performed on Wednesday, June 29th.

Investigators are not releasing any other details about the deaths, saying it could compromise the investigation.

This marks Fort McMurray’s first and second homicide of 2011.

The Beck brothers were students at Father Patrick Mercredi Community High School in Fort McMurray and were set to graduate next year.

Friends have been gathering all week at the park, trying to come to terms with their grief.

"Just felt like it wasn’t real, whenever my phone vibrates or whatever I feel like it’s him texting me or something." Holly Payne, James Beck’s girlfriend said.

"They’re very popular boys. They helped out, they had big hearts. We do a lot of service work at the school helping those in need and whenever we needed an extra hand, they were both there."

James and William’s aunt says it’s important that the brothers are remembered as individuals.

"I want them to be more than just twin boys from Fort McMurray. They were people, and they were our sons, and our cousins, and our nephews, and they meant something to us." Donna Reed said.

A memorial for the brothers was held on Thursday afternoon in Fort McMurray.

Anyone with information about the death of James and William Beck is asked to call Wood Buffalo RCMP at (780) 788-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
