WEST KELOWNA — A marijuana grow op is the suspected cause of a basement fire in Glenrosa Tuesday night.
Members of West Kelowna Fire Rescue were called to the 3400 block of Ranch Rd. around 9 p.m.
Assistant fire chief Darren Lee says when firefighters discover a grow op, policy dictates they retreat to safety and wait for power to be cut.
An extinguisher set off in the basement brought the fire under control without requiring firefighters inside.
Numerous police were also called to the scene and were questioning a woman near the house. Police couldn’t say yet if it was a legal or illegal grow op.
