Drunk driving charges laid after fatal Saskatchewan crash

FORT QU’APPELLE, Sask. – RCMP have laid drunk driving charges after a fatal crash Saturday on a grid road near Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.

Steven Remenda, 39, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and operating a motor vehicle while over 80 mgs causing death.

The Indian Head man was remanded in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on March 31.

The fatal crash happened between two vehicles on a grid road between Lebret and Indian Head.

A 40-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene.

The family has requested her name not be released.

Investigators determined she was a passenger in an eastbound car driven by Remenda which swerved into the path of a westbound pickup truck.

RCMP are still investigating the crash.
