Castlegar RCMP are treating a recent fire at a church as suspicious.
Police and the Castlegar Fire Department were called out on March 18 at about 11:45 p.m. to the Kinnaird Church of God on Columbia Avenue.
The church was badly damaged, but it still standing. Luckily, no one was injured in the fire.
Police have identified a possible suspect and have one man in custody. They are still looking to speak with any witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to call the Castlegar RCMP at (250)365-7721 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
This fire following another suspicious fire set last March in Castlegar, at the Saint Rita’s Catholic Church. That fire was deliberately set and destroyed the main building of the church.
