<p>CALGARY – Charges against three men accused of shooting a wild horse in west-central Alberta have been dropped.</p> <p>A trial for Jason Nixon, Earl Anderson and Gary Cape was to begin in Calgary on Wednesday.</p> <p>But court heard that new evidence presented to defence lawyers earlier this month cleared the three of being involved in the 2009 shooting.</p> <p>The men said they came upon a horse lying by the side of the road near Sundre and simply moved the carcass.</p> <p>It is believed a witness saw what they did and came forward.</p> <p>The Wild Horse of Alberta Society says 31 feral horses have been shot in the area since 2001.
