<p>CHARLOTTETOWN – Former Newfoundland and Labrador premier Danny Williams received an honorary degree from the University of Prince Edward Island on Saturday.</p> <p>Williams was awarded an honorary doctor of laws, a university spokesperson said.</p> <p>A university news release quotes from Williams’ convocation address saying he was “deeply touched and privileged” by the honour.</p> <p>Williams, a Rhodes scholar, also told university graduates that no matter what path they take, they can make a difference in society.</p> <p>The highly popular premier announced suddenly last year that he was stepping down to resume his business career.</p>
