Watch above: Dalyce Emmerson is keeping her eye on the big prize while battling a leg injury
SASKATOON – Dalyce Emmerson’s numbers speak for themselves: fourth in the nation in points per game, second in shooting percentage, second in rebounding and first in blocks.
“She’s had a remarkable year as a third year player. She’s just come so far in her three years here,” said Huskies head coach Lisa Thomaidis.
“This season was really just unreal as far as being able to clean up the boards, she’s scoring at a great pace and her teammates understand how to get her the ball.”

Emmerson was named Canada West MVP and the conference’s top defensive player. What made her season even more impressive – she’s recently been battling through a leg injury.
“I just like playing basketball,” Emmerson said. “I can deal with whatever I need to deal with. There has definitely been some Advil and ice but I’m getting through it.”
“She’s still pretty hurt,” admits Thomaidis. “When the game is done she can barely walk on the one leg. She’s tremendously strong mentally and I think that’s what’s able to get her through.”
Emmerson will find out on Thursday night if she is the CIS MVP. However, the product of Prince Albert doesn’t have her eyes on the Nann Copp Award or the award for the nation’s top defensive player.
She’s eyeing the Bronze Baby.
“Two awards are kind of on the side. I’ve never really been a stats person. That’s kind of a cherry on top but to be honest I’d rather win the national championship than anything else.”
