OTTAWA – Thousands of people are expected to gather on Parliament Hill Thursday afternoon for the 14th annual “˜National March for Life’ to protest Canadian abortion laws.

The event is held on the anniversary of the 1969 law that relaxed restrictions on abortions in Canada. Organizers expect more than 12,000 people to take part in the rally, which begins on Parliament Hill at noon then marches through downtown before returning to the Hill.

The route takes the marchers south on Elgin Street to Lisgar Street, west to Metcalfe Street, north to Laurier Avenue, west to Bank Street, then north to Wellington Street and back to the Hill. The rally ends at 4 p.m.
