AMA president set to hit the road to hear intimidation complaints from doctors

<p>EDMONTON – The president of the Alberta Medical Association says he will tour Alberta to hear from doctors on several important topics.</p> <p>Patrick White says those will include contract negotiations and the issue of physician intimidation.</p> <p>Premier Ed Stelmach’s government has been under pressure this year to call an inquiry into allegations that doctors who spoke out on problems with patient care were bullied by their bosses or threatened with lawsuits.</p> <p>A small number of doctors have come forward with such stories.</p> <p>One of them, Dr. Ciaran McNamee, said in a 2006 lawsuit he was pushed out years earlier for speaking out on wait lists.</p> <p>McNamee now practises in the United States.</p> <p>The province has said it will not call an inquiry.</p>
