Infant accidentally pepper-sprayed by Dartmouth mom

HALIFAX – A Dartmouth baby is recovering after being exposed to pepper spray.

At 9:20 p.m. Monday, emergency responders were called to an apartment building on Courtney Road. The resident said she discharged the pepper spray accidentally, as she tried to remove a price tag.

Paramedics treated the mother and her infant for swollen, irritated eyes while firefighters attempted to ventilate the unit.

Police will not be investigating the incident because it does not constitute a criminal case, said Staff Sgt. Bill Morris.
