An all-boys alternative program will be located at Sir James Lougheed School, where the regular program will close at the end of this school year.
The school, located at 3519 36th Ave. S.W., was chosen because of its central location, according to the Calgary Board of Education.
“The more than 200 parents who have expressed interest in the all-boys program are from across the city,” chief superintendent Naomi Johnson said in a news release. “We looked at several locations but based on the wide distribution of interest, Sir James Lougheed School was chosen.”
The alternative program was announced by the CBE in April.
It will offer Kindergarten to Grade 5 in the 2011-12 school year, and Grade 6 will be added the following year.
The decision to locate at Sir James Lougheed School came after a decision by the Board of Trustees to close the school and its regular programs at the end of this school year.
