MONTREAL – Parti Quebecois cabinet minister Marie Malavoy will not be running for another term in the National Assembly.

She was named Education Minister when the PQ came to power in September, 2012.

Malavoy first entered politics in 1994, representing a Sherbrooke riding and was later named Minster of Culture and Communications.

Two months later, Malavoy was forced to step down when it was revealed that she had illegally voted in the 1980 referendum, as well as federal and provincial elections, before becoming a Canadian citizen.

The PQ will announce Friday its new candidate in Taillon.

Meanwhile, Pauline Marois named two candidates in the Montérégie region Thursday.
