Kelowna students submitted almost 200 ideas of what a city without cars would look like, vying for a chance to win a new bike.
Casorso Elementary student Daylath Mendis was the overall winner of the poster contest.
The City of Kelowna held the competition to promote Clear Air Day June 8th.
“Students responded with amazing pictures that showed how important biking, walking and just generally being active is important to them,” says Kate Bergen, Regional Air Quality Coordinator.
Daylath, a Grade 6 student, won a new bicycle donated by Kelowna Cycle and her drawing will be made into a poster that will be distributed to all schools in School District 23.
Transit will be free June 8th in Kelowna, with free breakfast and snacks available in the morning at Queensway and Orchard Park bus stations.
