Hockey Heroes help fund Saskatchewan Hospital

Professional hockey players proved they can do more than just light up the ice.

Just before lunch time on Thursday, WHL and NHL alumni cycled into the Queen City, wrapping up the first annual WHL Ride for the Kids.

The province wide event saw players trade in their skates for bikes in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.

The pros didn’t take the challenge lightly; some rode over 173km throughout the province.

The celebrations wrapped up in Regina with a street hockey tournament, and sold out gala.

Proving hockey players aren’t all rough and tough.

“It’s an opportunity for us to give back,” said Regina Pats president Brent Parker. “Over the years I’m sure many of these guys have used the hospitals in the province, and now to have an opportunity to help build the Children’s Hospital, and give something back to the lads. The youth that are playing in the province and kids, sick kids.”
