Ever wondered what the world looks like at 150 km/hr?
Now you have the chance to find out… when Saskatchewan crop dusters hit the small screen.
“Dust Up” is premiering on History Channel, featuring three dare-devil crop dusters from Nipawin.
“When I first started, the life expectancy for a pilot was 3 years,” said pilot Bud Jardine. “I’ve got 40 in, and I just hope I haven’t used up somebody else’s time.”
A veteran in the cockpit, Jardine is 73. Together him, his son Brennan and rookie Travis Karle prove the prairie isn’t always easy living.
“It’s about the struggle of survival of the farmer in Saskatchewan,” said show creator Terry Mialkowsky.
“And a group of crop dusting pilots who are out there, risking their lives everyday to do what they can to make sure these guys can make a living.”
A job so dangerous, their lives are on the line.
Viewers not only get a chance to see the danger first hand – they see it through the pilots eyes.
“We did that through various techniques by putting cameras on the plane,” said Mialkowsky.
“Using other plans and helicopters to film the action to make sure the audience feels like they’re up in the air as well.
See for yourself as these adrenaline junkies defy gravity, five feet off the ground.
“Dust Up” premieres Thursday, June 2 at 7:00pm on History.
