RCMP say it will take time to get to the bottom of dozens of fraud allegation levelled against an Edmonton-area wedding decorator.
More than 30 brides have filed official complaints against Amy Conibear, the owner of Stony Plain-based Amour Decor, who they say deserted them after they paid their deposits.
Global News first reported the story last week when several couples came forward to say they were having trouble contacting Conibear. After the story aired many others came forward with similar stories.
Stony Plain RCMP are currently investigating, but warn that because of the nature of the allegations it could be some time before the matter is resolved.
"We have a large number of complainants," said RCMP Cst. Barb Roy. "But because it’s a paper crime and no one has been injured it’s going to take awhile to fully investigate."
Complainants contacted by Global News have already reported losses totaling more than $30,000.
