Buskers turn up in droves at The Forks

Busking is how Canada’s sweetheart, Justin Bieber, got his start, and on Friday, dozens of entertainers and performers lined up in Winnipeg to follow in his footsteps.

More than 80 people showed up, armed with instruments and an assortment of props, at centre court of the Forks Market to audition for the annual Scotiabank Buskers Festival.

From singers and magicians to awe-inspiring fireblowers, each performer had just five minutes to make an impression on a panel of judges and earn the big prize: a license that is required to legally busk at the market.
