Langley RCMP and BC Hydro are investigating a copper theft that caused more than $75,000 of damage to power poles last week.
Mounties say they were called to the 5700-block of Production Way on Feb. 16 after a BC Hydro crew found damaged power poles and transformers.
According to BC Hydro, two power poles were chopped down and the contents of three attached electrical transformers were stolen along with the connecting cables.
The damage and repair costs are estimated to be more than $75,000, according to BC Hydro.

“These incidents are extremely dangerous due to the hazards to the thieves as well as innocent members of the public who may inadvertently come across the electrical wires,” Cpl. Holly Marks said in a release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
