CRUCIAL WEEKEND FOR PATS

The headline is kind of redundant.  Every game is important.  All 72 man something.  But with just a third of the season left, each point is paramount.

The Pats kick off a home and home with the Swift Current Broncos tonight (Friday) at the Brandt.  Last time these two met up (last Saturday) the pats blew a three goal lead, losing in overtime.  Sitting 6 back of the Broncos and 8 out of the playoffs, this club can ill afford to let points slip away, especially to teams they are chasing.

When I asked Curtis Hunt if they are in playoff mode yet, he laughed and said they've had to be since Christmas.  The difference between now and a month ago with this team is huge.  They have a full lineup, Jordan Eberle is back, Jordan Eberle is back and Jordan Eberle is back.  He's only the best junior player in the world.

If ever this team had a chance it is because of #7.  Not only are teams unable to stop the phenom, he makes life easier for the rest of his teammates just by being on the roster.  Everbody elevates their game when they see Eberle onthe bench.  The club feels confident that they always have a chance when he's on the ice.  His heroics are nothing short of legend in the Queen City and if he can help guide this team from the sewers and into the post-season, well, it may be his most clutch moment yet!

The Pats will close out the weekend with their most daunting task.  The Kootenay Ice are owners of a 14-game unbeaten streak and withing striking distance of the top of the Eastern Conference.  There can be no, "3 in 3 nights" excuses for this one.  Its time to just win baby.  And win a lot if there is to be a second season.
