Schoolyard language dominates Alberta legislature debate over doctor bullying

<p>EDMONTON – A heated debate that has gone on for weeks in the Alberta legislature over alleged bullying of doctors has stooped to the schoolyard.</p> <p>Alberta Liberal Leader David Swann told the house during question period that he wondered if Premier Ed Stelmach could “find the balls” to call a public inquiry.</p> <p>Speaker Ken Kowalski immediately ruled Swann out of order for using unparliamentary language.</p> <p>Seconds later, as both sides of the house shouted at each other, Rob Anderson of the Wildrose Alliance was forced by Kowalski to stand and retract a statement in which he called the premier “a chicken.”</p> <p>Before question period, Independent Raj Sherman told reporters he had sent Stelmach a note challenging him to meet him outside the legislature to get proof of doctors being bullied for voicing health-care concerns.</p> <p>The note said the premier was a chicken if he didn’t come, but Stelmach didn’t show up.</p>
