Police and B.C. Corrections are on the hunt for 21-year-old escaped convict Ajit Singh.
Singh escaped from the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre in Maple Ridge after climing a fence on April 16. Surveillance video shows Singh going over the fence, and then making his way through the forest around the facility.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to help B.C. Corrections with the search, but they do not consider Singh to be dangerous at this time.
“Mr. Singh was serving time for obstructing a peace officer,” said RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop. “He is not considered a high risk when it comes to violent behaviors.”
However, with connections to the Vancouver area, Vancouver City Police have also been notified of his escape.
Singh is described as an east Indian man, 5 ft 10 in, 180 lbs, medium build, with black hair, brown eyes, and a scar on his right forearm, about 15-centimetres long.
He was wearing prison clothing at the time of his escape.
Anyone with any information as to Singh’s whereabouts are urged to not approach him, but call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251, or the local police department in which he is located.
