The Montreal-raised singer sang “that only us command” instead of the real lyric “in all of us command,” delivering the anthem in both English and French ahead of the matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The lyric change echoed fellow Canadian Chantal Kreviazuk’s protest performance at the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey final in Boston on Feb. 20.

The Blue Jays dominated Wednesday night’s game and are heading home with a 3-2 lead in the World Series.

This is the second game in a row Toronto has won since losing the 18-inning marathon Game 3 was on Monday night.

Game 6 will be in Toronto on Friday, with Game 7 — if necessary — also in Toronto on Saturday.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Oct. 29, 2025.

This is a corrected version. The previous version shows a date of Feb. 8.
