UPDATE: Pedestrian trapped under vehicle after being hit on 16 Avenue

CALGARY- A pedestrian was fully trapped underneath a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon, after being hit by a car.

It happened around 4:30 p.m., when the man was standing at the corner of 16 Ave. and 19 St. N.W.

After being hit by the small car which was trying make a left turn, the man was dragged and trapped underneath. Witnesses rushed to help, and tried to lift the car off of him themselves. Fortunately emergency crews arrived a short time later, and were able to free him.

He was rushed to hospital in stable but non life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle was shaken up, but not injured.

An investigation is now underway.
