VERNON — Vernon’s year-and-a-half old regional library branch is closed after a water pipe burst over the book return area Monday night.
Library spokesperson Michelle Rule says they’re still sorting out the damage.

“We don’t have any number estimates at this point. And of course, we have insurance so that’s always a good thing. What we do know is that we’re probably looking at a weeklong closure.”
Rule says the break was over the book return area that may have damaged some of the books, but it appears most of the damage is to carpets and furniture .
Rule says customers are being asked to hold on to any books they have out now until the situation’s cleared up.
