TRURO, N.S. – A Nova Scotia man charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of a mother and daughter has been remanded into custody until April 3.
Gerald Ashley Rushton was charged in December in the deaths of 54-year-old Elizabeth MacPherson and her 24-year-old daughter Brittany.

They were found dead in a home in Bible Hill.
Judge Warren Zimmer of provincial court in Truro has set a preliminary inquiry for the weeks of Oct. 6 and Oct. 20, but that will be confirmed during Rushton’s April 3 court appearance.
